Who: Daisy Johnson & Dr. Strange
What: Daisy arrives in NY and Strange welcomes her.
When: Today
Rating/Warnings: Green

Daisy sat the counter at the diner with the rest of the shield agents, ready to be taken away. She had heard the bell that hung above the door ring throughout the empty diner as the men entered, but that’s when things got weird. It felt like an invisible force had grabbed a hold of her hand pulled her through some kind of portal. It all happened so fast. She had no idea what was going on. She had no idea if anyone else had been grabbed. Where they falling or being pulled like she was? Or was she the only lucky one to experience this? Before she could wonder anymore, everything went black.

She slowly opened her eyes and blinked as the sunlight shine bright into her eyes. “Ugh.” She slowly sat up. Nothing hurt, which meant whoever or whatever grabbed her hadn’t been rough with her. But a billion questions started running through her mind. “Where am I?” She asked herself as she looked around. It was a park, that much she knew. As she stood up and got a better look at the city skyline, it dawned on her where she had ended up. “New York, really?” Why was she here? Where were the others? “Coulson…? May…?” she called out, but no response came. She grabbed her phone and tried to call anyone, but the calls wouldn’t go through. “Great,” she muttered to herself before putting the phone away.

“Well, standing around here is going to get me no answers…” she told herself. She dusted off any dirt and grass that may have gotten onto her clothes and then started to head out into the streets of New York. Somebody somewhere knew something and she was going to find them.

Someone, somewhere, nearly spilled his tea when magically alerted to Daisy Johnson appeared in New York City.

"Another interesting development," intoned Stephen Strange, motioning with the crook of a finger toward the Cloak of Levitation. It floated over and rested over his shoulders as he went to get yet another welcome package, wrapped in hand woven Tibetan cloth and colorful string. Now he was taking to making the packages look nice, because the news that came along with them often wasn't nice at all. It was also his second trip, as the first one resulted in him having to portal out of there immediately, and then throw some warm clothes through a portal at a woman in a bikini.

First times for everything. That was definitely a first time.

Stephen opened a portal near the path that Daisy was taking, stepping out of a storefront so quickly that he nearly bumped into someone.

"Sorry."

"Whatever, freak!"

"Comic con," he offered as an excuse for his attire, and was flipped off and grumbled at.

"Pleasant." He looked directly at Daisy and raised one hand in an awkward gesture of greeting. "Hello. You must be Miss Johnson?"

Daisy continued to walk through the streets. Every once in a while she would hear bits of people's conversation. Something happened. Something big. She wanted to know exactly what happened. And before she could stop and ask a couple of women who were talking, someone else had caught her attention.

The fact that the stranger knew her name was one reason they had caught her attention. The other, well, the way he was dressed. It was like he just stepped away from a kid's party. "I might be," she replied, "Who's asking?" If he tried anything funny, she was going to blast his ass halfway down the street.

Things had been hectic lately, and if she went a few blocks north, she'd probably start to run into the aftermath of a Hulk rampage and the explosive that caused it all. The stranger lowered his hand, and truly did look like he was on his way to make balloon animals for angry six year olds. He might even portal some of them if they snotted on him. To some other part of the house that was safe. Certainly not to another dimension entirely. Because even if he wasn't a kid person, he knew that was wrong.

"I'm doctor Stephen Strange," he said, by way of introduction. "Master of the mystic arts. I noted your arrival in the city and I'm here to help the transition you've just experienced. It's an unfortunate side effect of saving the planet from being devoured." There was a profound moment of silence while he paused and admitted, "I broke time. Sorry. Planet's doing fine now though. The city?"

That was a more complicated story. He looked troubled before finishing with a somber, "Not so much."

He was a doctor? Daisy wasn't sure if she could believe that because she was still stuck on the fact that he looked like a cheap magician that parents paid for. "What exactly are you a doctor of?" That was her first question. "Wait, back up. Who or what exactly was going to devour the planet?" She definitely wanted to know that answer since nothing like that had been happening before she woke up in New York.

The city. Now that was another thing that she wanted to know about. "What happened?" She had only caught bits of conversation about what happened, but if this guy knew what had happened, she'd definitely like to hear it from him. In detail.

"I was a neurosurgeon, until..." He held up his hands so the scars over his hands and down his fingers could be seen. "Car accident. It's why I learned magic. I was on a quest to try to heal my hands."

She had questions and they were ones that he could answer. He wished the circumstances were different.

"As far as what was trying devour the planet? An eternal entity known as Dormammu, capable of devouring entire dimensions so he and his cultists can live forever. Died a few times. Can't recommend it...or turning back time to save Hong Kong, since that started this mess we're in now." He looked over his shoulder in the general direction of the mess, pausing on how to best explain the latest catastrophe. He decided on simpler being better, looking back at Daisy with a grim expression. "Hulk happened. And trying to stop Hulk happened. Quite a few people died. It's near the hotel where new arrivals are staying. It's part of this package."

He held out the wrapped package for her to take.

"I know it's a lot to digest. There's a secret network, for those of us who have been made aware. That information and means to access it, can be found in here."

"Oh." Daisy had heard crazier things while being apart of SHIELD, so why not a neurosurgeon who got into an accident and decided to learn magic to heal his hands. That wasn't too crazy, right?

"Can't say that I've ever heard of Dormammu. And I honestly hope that I never have to see him after what you've just told me." When Strange looked over his shoulder, she couldn't help but follow his gaze. "Ah."

She took the package. "It is, but this isn't the first weird thing I've dealt with before." And she was pretty sure that she would end up dealing with all of this. She just wished the others were here. "Great. Is there anything else that I should know?"

Stephen thought about that before saying, "Good news, I don't think Dormammu is going to come back. Bad news, I can't fix this timeline. It's its own part of the multiverse now. Since you've dealt with weird before, you're probably better able to process this than most."

He looked at the package and let out a barely audible sigh.

"I don't think there's anything else," he admitted, as everything she needed was in the welcome pack. A phone, laptop, network access info, hotel address and room keycard, and spending money. He had little doubt she would see the evidence of the Hulk attack the closer she got to the hotel, and she was very close to the wreckage. "There's a FAQ in there if you have questions, and my address and e-mail, if you have any further questions. The network's always available. Don't hesitate to ask."

After a lengthy pause, he pointed back toward the shop front, like he was going back that way if she didn't need anything else. Then it struck him that she might not want to walk that many blocks, or near the clean up ops.

"Would you like a portal to the hotel's hallway?" he offered.

"Hey, that is good news. The first part anyway." She had hoped that he would say there is a small chance that he could fix the timeline, but that hope was quickly diminishing.

"Okay. I guess this means I'm all set." She was about to thank Mister Magician and head off towards the hotel, but then he offered up a portal. That definitely perked up her interest.

"Sure. Why not. I never traveled by portal before. Bring it on, Magic Man."

"Oh thank god." Stephen looked relieved that he finally met someone that didn't think a portal was strange. Just like his last name. He could only imagine the odd situations that this young woman encountered before, that she was this accepting of it all. The universe was throwing them some welcome surprises in the midst of adversity and chaos. "Uhh...bringing it."

He looked both ways before turning to the side, where the shop doorway was. A few circular waves of his hand and sparks flew, revealing a round portal with what looked like a hallway inside it.

"Brought," he said with a nod in the affirmative. "Thank you for your time and understanding, Miss Johnson."

A small smile spread across Daisy's lips as the look of relief crossed Strange's face. She could only imagine how much crap he had been getting from others (of course there are others) that had woken up here. She wasn't going to add to it. She had dealt with plenty of weird. This was just another thing on her long list of weirdness that has entered her life since she met Coulson and the others.

She watched as Strange brought forth the portal. She was pretty impressed since she hadn't seen anyone do that before. "You definitely brought it," she said, smiling. "Yeah, sure. Thanks for, uh," she held up the package and gave it a little wave, "this and that," she said as he motioned with her head to the portal. "I guess I will be seeing you around." She had no doubt they would be crossing paths. But for now, she needed to get to the hotel and gather any and all other information that she might need. With one last look to Strange, she finally stepped through the portal that led her right to the hotel she would be staying at.
