The glow in her hand was gone before the cup of coffee made it to the far table. Tony eyed it even though he was wincing while chewing, managing to keep his mouth closed. Once he could speak, he continued his streak as a cynical Captain Obvious, "Like we needed any proof the world's a messed up place."
Along with whatever was lurking in outer space, which was the stuff nightmares were made of.
For right now, concentrating on figuring out the puzzle pieces of Extremis was somewhat less nerve-wracking territory to wade through. He was committing everything she was saying to memory, all of the warning signs, along with every little piece of information he could gather, to make sure that another person on the network wasn't going to end up a threat. Since that didn't work out when he hired someone last time, the upfront approach was his preferred method. And besides, it wasn't often got to witness first-hand the shared 'killer and victim' situation that they had going on.
"Do you think you'd ever need one? One of the auto-injectors? Just because you never had it happen, doesn't mean it might not crop up someday." He stared at his burger and his gaze landed on the handful of fries. Wheels turned. A decision was made. He lifted the top bun and crammed the fries into the ketchup there, squishing the bun back down over it all. There. Problem solved and it was more efficient. "And I'm not saying you don't have epic control over it or anything. I just want to make sure there's fail-safes. That's all."
After downing a third of his beer, he went right back to eating his burger and waiting for her answer.
