Who: Lady Sif & Peter Parker
What: A humorous misunderstanding and the bad guys get away
When: Saturday
Rating/Warnings: Green
Lady Sif was as expected on high alert ever since her conversation with Thor over the networks. There was trouble afoot and Thor had been on the unfortunate receiving end so Sif was nothing if not vigilant and wary all at the same time. She also felt naked, clad in Midgardian clothes, without her armor, and in times of war that was both stupid and reckless. If only it didn't cause such a stir or she would happily clad herself in it every single day but she recognised that this world did not always regard that as a positive.
She was concerned for Thor, especially as he was injured and for anything to hurt him was worrying at best. That did not mean however that she shied away from the world and hid in shadow, not when she felt she had a responsibility to be the one facing off against dangers that others could not and should not.
The world of Midgard and her friends were under attack, Sif would do everything in her power to bring those responsible to whatever passed for justice in this world. It was as she moved through the streets of New York that she became aware of what sounded like a commotion and immediately she drew her blade from where it had been hidden, moving immediately to confront. She had never been one to run away except when instructed to by Thor and then he was the only exception.
Whatever it was it was coming towards her.
“Will you just get back here?!” Peter shouted as he slung from web to web, trying to chase down the two men who were fleeing from him like he was a Chitauri out to rip their faces off. Or something. He saw them discard a bag and made a mental note to go back for it after he’d caught the bad guys that were threatening people and carrying weapons that looked distinctly non-standard-bad-guy-issue but when he’d approached them to kindly ask if they’d stop what they were doing and hand over the goods, they started running.
At least, he supposed, they hadn’t shot at him.
The two men running shoulder checked the Lady Sif, speeding away through a crowded street shouting for people to move and get outta the damn way, except with far more colourful language that Peter Parker would never ever use.
The Lady Sif barely even moved as she was shoulder checked though a frown soon creased her brow as she became aware of what looked like a brightly coloured figure swinging through the air after the two running in the opposite direction. She did not know the situation but she knew a thing or two about people in brightly coloured costumes.
She shifted her weight and with a well placed application of hand to ankle Sif tightened her grip and immediately yanked the swinging individual from the air and to the ground where soon she pressed sharp Asgardian metal to the delicate skin near the neck that if nicked could cause an enemy to bleed out in seconds.
“Name yourself and your purpose,” she spoke in a voice that brokered no room for argument.
The next thing Peter knew he was being grabbed and flung onto the floor hard enough that his teeth rattled. He twisted a little and stretched a hand above his head, trusting Karen’s targeting system to fire two web-nets at the retreating men but only one of them struck true. The other hit a trash-can and webbed it over, securing its contents to the sidewalk for the next two hours.
“They’re getting away!” he protested, not wanting to move too much because there was a sword pressed against his throat by a woman that was intimidatingly beautiful. “I- My name’s Spiderman- I’m one of the good guys. These two- they have weapons and I need to stop them before they hurt someone else and- please can you take your really sharp sword away from my throat?”
From nearby, someone’s voice could be heard saying “Someone’s holding a sword over Spiderman! Hey lady! He’s one of the good guys!”
It was as the one clad in blue and red spoke that Sif realised how young the voice was and even the way in which the words were strung together they spoke of a youthfulness that she had not encountered in a very long time. And then his words sunk in and Sif’s expression darkened as she realised she had interrupted a pursuit of men who had weapons, potentially the same weapons that had done Thor harm.
She had not been informed of this “Spiderman” so she could not be blamed for her reaction, especially given recent events.
Eventually her sword was withdrawn and a hand was offered. “Apologies, Spiderman. I was not aware of your intent.”
Peter took the offered hand and let the woman pull him up. Now that she didn’t have a sword against his throat Peter rubbed at it with his other hand and decided not to comment on just how strong she was, and how strong her grip was. It was… definitely not human. Was she like him? No… she spoke weird.
“It’s okay, I got one of them, right?”
“My targeting system was off,” Karen admitted, only to Peter, “I was worrying about your neck. Sorry.”
“It’s okay,” he said to Karen. “At least we got one.”
His head lifted, focusing on the lady again. “I got one, right? He hasn’t like, hopped off or anything?”
Rubbing the back of his neck, Peter held his hand out again. “Guessing you’re not from around here, huh,” he asked, “I’m Spiderman, you are? Wait- I already introduced myself. Sorry. I- uh, yeah sorry. It’s nice to meet you…?”
Sif’s brow drew together as the red and blue spiderman appeared to be speaking to what seemed like the disembodied voice of a female that he referred to Karen. “Hopped off? He is not an amphibian so I suspect he is where you left him.” She clearly didn’t get the reference but that was understandable considering unlike Thor she had not spent a large amount of time on Midgard and around Tony Stark.
She regarded his hand and thankfully she now understood the expectation there and she immediately grasped it in her grip which would have been in anyone else a bone crunching experience.
“I am Lady Sif of Asgard,” she returned, ignoring the stab of hurt when she thought of home.
“Asgard?!” Peter asked, his voice rising an octave in absolute awe. “Like Thor?” He didn’t wait for her to confirm it or not because she was shaking his hand and he covered hers with his other one. “It’s such- wow- I mean- dude- I just-” Ned was never going to believe this. “I- I’m honoured, Lady Sif,” he told her honestly with a slight bow of his head and realising that he had been shaking her hand a little too long he let go and rubbed the back of his head, turning on the spot on one heel. “I- wow, I- that’s so amazing. Welcome to Earth, I guess? I mean- it’s just- that’s- you’re- so incredible.”
He knew Thor? Immediately Sif felt better in his company.
“Thank you for the welcome, Spiderman.” He seemed very enthusiastic but it was a pleasant change from the more sullen company she had been keeping in herself as of late. “Should we question the man in your…” She didn’t quite know how to phrase it but went with the most obvious, “Web?”
While Peter had never met Thor, he had seen all the footage of him that was on the internet and had hoped that he’d be able to meet him in person one day and not just interact over the network.
“Yeah,” he said after a moment of just staring at her for a bit longer. “Y-yeah, we should go do that. And then maybe he’ll give up his friend that got away. And- oh! The weapons, I should go get those. Can you handle the interrogation? I wanna know where he got his weapons from and if he has any more. Because- they looked pretty big, bigger than the normal guns that guys here have anyway-” He was rambling.
Sif gave a nod of her head as she spun the blade and immediately sheathed it with all the skill and finesse of a well trained warrior. “I will question the man and inform you of the responses given so that you can continue your pursuit.” It was not uncommon for young people to be involved in the protection of their home or for them to be warriors so Sif did not regard the youth of the Spiderman as something to be concerned about.
And with that said she began her approach and if the man whimpered at the sight of her he would lie later and claim bravery.
