Kate had met The Winter Soldier a few times in her world--even worked with him, in fact--but this guy didn’t seem to know her. Weird how there were versions of the people she knew here who didn’t know her. Weird, but maybe kinda good? It meant she had a fresh start--meant that she could build new relationships.

She wasn’t lying about the popcorn. Or the Red Bull. Kate also ordered a pizza and put a pot of coffee on. Because if they were going to watch lots of movies, they’d need lots of snacks. She figured she’d start with the cutesy, family-friendly stuff: Hocus Pocus, Nightmare Before Christmas, then move into the classics: Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street. That seemed like a lot for one day, but so long as he didn’t get sick of her, they could totally power through.

She settled on the sofa and flicked through the social media apps on her phone while she waited for him to show up.

Bucky didn't actively know Kate, but that didn't mean he didn't like the kid's energy. She definitely had that in abundance. Though, that wasn't to say that he wasn't a bit confused at knowing she was called Hawkeye too. How in the hell did Barton take to that? He couldn't picture someone else known as the Winter Soldier or White Wolf. Even if they were just names and titles.

He finishes up what he'd been doing and true to his word, a few minutes before the hour mark hits, he's at her door. The soldier isn't sure what this young girl has in store for him. Save for popcorn and movies. Maybe they should've dragged Steve into all of this too. Now that would have been interesting.

He doesn't just waltz in though. Might as well have some manners and give the door a firm knock. Then go from there with whatever in the world they were watching.

It’s funny to Kate that he kept calling her kid. So old-fashioned. And, compared to his ridiculous amount of years, she supposes she is a ‘kid.’ Then again, she’s been a legal adult for almost 7 years now, and she’s been through way, way more than most of the people her age. So maybe she is, and maybe she isn’t. Kate would certainly call herself a woman if someone asked.

When he knocks on the door, Kate is there in moments to pull the door open and give him a smile. Clad for a comfortable movie-thon, Kate’s wearing yoga pants, a purple tanktop, and grey sweatshirt hanging off one shoulder. Her hair’s a mess, up in a sloppy bun, and she’s wearing mismatched socks (one purple, the other white).

“Wow, you look… really different,” she offers, the smile not faltering. “Come on in, sorry, where are my manners.” And then she steps aside and holds the door open so he can come into her home.

Hey, if Kate didn't want him to call her kid then all she had to do was say something. He would respect whatever she wanted. Hell, there were times where he still called his best friend, Stevie. Not that he would ever do that around anyone. Old nicknames to one another should stay that way. His own nickname was out there for the world to hear.

He, himself, was wearing comfortable pants and a black shirt when she answers the door. He does, however, give her a smile of his own. Not a full smile, but a smile none the less.

"Do I even want to know what your Barnes looked like?" He asks before slipping into her home and turning slightly, eyes on her for a moment.

She’ll definitely tell him. Next time it slips out of him, she’ll bring it up. And, to make things even, she’ll ask him what he wants to be called, too. Is it weird being called a childhood nickname when a person is well over a hundred years old?

“Definitely not like you,” Kate responds, smirking softly. She says the next bit without blushing--amazingly. “You… you know you’re ridiculously handsome, right?” Just to put it out in the open. Then again, maybe he doesn’t know. You’re welcome, Bucky.

She closes the door behind him and moves through the apartment to the living room where the food and drinks sit on the table. “So, I’ve got ideas for what we can watch, and there’s plenty of food. If you don’t want Red Bull or coffee, there’s beer and soda in the fridge. How do you feel about family-friendly movies?”

"... Ridiculously handsome? I'm pretty sure that's a first for me." Sure, he's been called handsome before. However, that was before he became the Winter Soldier. After becoming the Soldier it wasn't a thing, nor was it something that he thought about. Why would he?

He can't help but give a bit of a chuckle," We'll see how this whole Red Bull thing works first and if it doesn't do it for me, then beer." As for family-friendly movies," Hey, my movie watching is in your hands. So, start us out with whatever you want."

“Hey, I only speak the truth.” Kate feels her cheeks grow a little hot at his words. She isn’t sure how she was expecting him to respond, but that’s definitely different from her expectations. If only the Barnes in her world had been such a hottie; she might not have butted heads with him so much. (Then again, she probably would have.)

“Works for me.” After plopping down on the sofa, she picks up the remote control. “All right, we’ll start with The Nightmare Before Christmas. It’s a classic for a reason. There’s singing. But it’s Danny Elfman, so it’s okay.” She pauses, realizing he probably has no idea who Danny Elfman is. “He was the frontman for this 1980s band called Oingo Boingo, and then he became a big time composer for all these amazing movies.”
