Valkyrie and Thor
The initial chaos had surprised and confused Thor, even as he was a man who was ready for anything. Perhaps he was a bit rusty, but the initial shuffle, cries, then shrieks and panicked scattering of people caught him completely off-guard. He counted the surprised guests, but every time thought he saw a different number. He could see his friends from Midgard battling, the guests and dignitaries from other realms fleeing, and ... where was the Queen?
A sudden, near-overwhelming wave of worry hit him as his eyes wandered the hall. He sprang up onto the table to get a better view, and realized with a jolt that she wasn't here. She'd been ... removed? Then Thor was racing for the door nearest the last place he'd seen her, staying atop the table as he ran. He leaped down off the end of the table and landed hard, running straight into one of the Kursed in full armor. Thor lifted a hand to summon his weapon, waiting for just a moment while Stormbreaker was on its way to him. Of course, the Kursed came at him, and Thor had to dodge swing after swing, waiting for his axe to arrive.
"Waylay me no further, Monster, for I have to attend--" his words were cut off as he had to dodge another attack. "--you are keeping me from my sworn duty, and it will not stand!"
Finally, Stormbreaker came flying across the room, landing straight in Thor's hand. He swung the axe around and made contact on the Kursed's breastplate, sending the creature flying over nearby battling bodies. Thor paid no mind, he turned and continued his path out of the hall.
"My Queen!" He cried out when he saw the bodies on the floor. Thor broke into a run, then crouched by her side. "...Let me see your wound," Thor said, breaking into a softer voice now that he realized she wasn't dead. Of course she wasn't dead. She couldn't be dead.
"You will need bandages. We should get you to healers immediately." His hands were shaking, his heart thundering. "I will carry you."
