Who: Elektra Natchios and Steven Strange
What: Trying to figure out what's going on.
When: Nighttime, somewhere along the rooftops in NYC.
Rating/Warnings: TBD, Green for starters.
After dragging Matt Murdock and herself out from underneath the rubble of what had once been the Midland Circle building, Elektra retreated and hid away from the pubic for a few months while she recovered. She had not been as badly injured as Matt, thanks to the enhanced strength and durability that remained a permanent effect of being given the resurrection elixir. Still, she needed time to recover her full strength - both emotionally as well as physically. Fighting against the Defenders, eliminating Alexandra Reid, the memories of her old life trickling back in... it was a lot to take in. She needed space and silence to do so.
Once she was recovered well enough, she left New York. Needing to clear her head and be away from old memories, Elektra traveled the world for a time, seeking an outlet for her restlessness as she tried to regain a sense of her identity, or what was left of it. Knowing she would never be able to go back to who she was before she had been resurrected, Elektra struggled to put the pieces of her fractured identity back together.
Those months of solitude and uncharacteristic introspection were a struggle, to put lightly. But there were moments of peace as well. She was free now, more or less; free to do what she pleased and be who she was. No one manipulating her to do their bidding, no one giving questionable orders. It was a good feeling. And she knew that Matt was alive, that too was cause for a sense of peace.
Eventually she was drawn back to New York, perhaps out of nostalgia, or perhaps something else entirely.
Alone in her apartment one night, Elektra felt a strange wave of energy pass through her awareness. Impossible to trace or see, but felt on a deep level. She got to her feet immediately - hyper alert and suspicious. She stood silently for a few moments, scanning her environment, her senses sharpened as if awaiting a potential attack.
Nothing. The silence surrounding her remained stable and unchanging. That odd sensation gradually began to fade. It felt like being jarred awake while in the middle of a dream - reality was blurry and just out of reach.
When a few moments passed and nothing else happened, Elektra headed straight for the door. Something was wrong. Something was inherently off and she was not going to waste time sitting and wondering what that was. Pulling on a dark, thick coat and grabbing her sais, she left her apartment; heading for the streets in order to investigate where that unusual sensation might have originated.
