Hope had just gotten pants, thanks to Friday, and she was unpacking the take out she'd ordered at the same time. She neatly put everything onto plates, and stood back thinking for a moment. She had ordered Chinese, because it was plentiful and didn't require much thought, and she wasn't sure what she wanted to drink with it.

Her foot tapped idly as she sifted through the bag of drinks that also had come, and decided on beer. Getting pulled from Los Angeles to New York, and through time, definitely deserved a beer. She was just opening one when Friday let her know Scott was at the door.

She was honestly impressed he hadn't gotten into trouble yet.

She opened the door, taking a drink from the bottle. "Took you long enough, what'd you do, get lost in me?" She smirked, she'd only seen him a little while ago back home but she knew there was no guarantee it was the same version. Not when time, space and alternative timelines were involved.

Scott had been very glad to see Hope pop up on the network and wasted no time making his way to her apartment. He was curious to see exactly what point in time she came from since Strange had said that people came from different places. Hopefully it wasn't from a time when they weren't getting along because he didn't feel like getting punched the moment he saw her.

When she opened the door, he breathed a sigh of relief because she was holding a beer and even if she'd wanted to punch him, she'd have to put it down first which would give him time to get out of the way. Instead he samiled at her. "Well this might seem weird but I went to the bathroom at Tony Stark's funeral and walked straight into the middle of Central Park in a rainstorm." He paused for a moment, trying to remember how long ago that was. "about a week ago, I think. What about you? Please tell me you aren't from when you were really pissed at me."

He forgot to think that she'd hit him with her other hand or just smack him with the beer bottle. Though, she wouldn't waste the beer, so maybe not the bottle to the head part.

"That is a very you thing to do, Scott." She stepped aside to let him inside, "I was at my lab, a few weeks after the funeral. So so far, you're safe." She smiled at him, shaking her head, there was no guarantee she'd not want to punch him by the end of the night, but, she liked to live dangerously.

It was true. Walking into the can and ending up in another universe. He had a knack for the weird. "It's also pretty believable that Tony Stark would have a portal to another world in his bathroom," he said. Scott breathed a sigh of relief when Hope told him the last place she'd been. "so we're good? I mean we were before, so I haven't screwed up yet. That's good to know." He cared a lot about Hope even if he was shit at expressing it. It was part of what had gone wrong with his marriage but that also coulc have been the whole being in prison thing too.

Stepping a bit further into the room, he looked at her with a grin. "So if I hug you, you won't hit me over the head with the beer bottle? Because I really want to do that." She may have just seen him and technically it hadn't been that long since he'd seen her but being able to actually touch her would make this all seem a little bit more real.

"I mean - that is also a true statement. Strange and Stark could have portals to other worlds and I probably wouldn't really bat an eyelash at the fact. Just accept it for what it is." she shook her head gently, that was wild to even think about.

"We are good, yes." she smirked softly, shaking her head a bit at him, she was used to his lack of tact, and ability, to express how he felt. It was amusing, and she hated it as much as she loved it.

"No, I won't hit you over the head with the beer bottle. To start, I don't want to waste the beer." she actually leaned over to set the bottle down on a side table. "See?"

"I hadn't met Strange before but the name fits him. I heard that it's his real name too." He would be interesting to get to know but also a little creepy. At least he'd been nice to Scott when he'd shown up .

"Good," he said and when she put down the beer, he walked over to her and wrapphed her in his arms. "I'm glad you're here," he said into her hair. "it'll make being in this place more bearable. This is a lot to take in and I still haven't recovered from time travel and Thanos." Hope had had some time based on what she'd told him but Scott was still trying to process what he'd been through.

Hope let him wrap her up in his arms, then snaked her arms around him and held him tightly. She might be a tough, opinionated chick on the outside (and the inside) but sometimes she just wanted the comfort of someone she knew, and cared about.

Her eyes closed and she breathed him in. "It'll make this a whole lot easier. Just think of how many days in jail I'll be saving you from." she smirked a touch, but then, added seriously, "I'll help you through all that, and all this. It was a lot to handle." and she'd been dead half the time. She still had feelings on that.

He kissed the top of her head, just grateful that she was here. "That's handy, I don't want to spend any more days in jail. I've had too many." Technically house arrest wasn't jail but it felt like it.

"I hate that this thing took me away from Cassie again," he said quietly. "I've missed so much with her and I thought that maybe we'd get back on track but now I'm here and she's there. I called her when I got here, and she said she understood but still. I feel like a shit father."

"Let's find a way to avoid that here." she said with a shake of her head, she did not want to deal with that on top of everything else. It just felt like it would be too much.

"I know and I am sorry - I wish there was more that we could do but it seems like there isn't too much. I haven't dug my heels in yet, but, just from what I keep hearing. You are not a shit father - you're trying and that's more than some do."

"I'm all for that," he said. Seriously though, Scott might have a knack for getting into trouble but he was always trying to do the right thing. It's just that sometimes you had to do the wrong thing to get the right thing done. Or something like that.

He nodded at her words. "I know and I think she knows too but still.....I'm willing to do whatever they need me to do, I told Strange that. I learned a lot from you and your parents but I wouldn't claim to be nearly as smart as any of you." Scott wasn't dumb but he knew he wasn't a genius. He had his areas of expertise but a quantum pnysicist he was not.

Hope smirked. "Good." she was not afraid of trouble, but she did want to not fish people out of jail. that was exhausting and she didn't have all of her tech with her. Just enough to manage.

"You have your own skills, Scott." she reminded him, "We're all just doing the best we can, and I've got your back. We'll figure it all out, how could we not?" she had no idea, of course, but she tried.

"I suppose I do," he admitted. "even if sometimes I tend to use them in ways that look but the mainstream population sees as not so good." Although he did come up with the idea that ended up destroying Thanos in their homeworld. Sort of.

"I know I already said it but I'm glad you're here.They need your help figuring things out, this is the kind of stuff you're good at." He paused for a moment and then kissed her lightly on the lips. "And I'm glad you're here because I'm just glad you're here."
