Happy July 4th!
Who: Open to all characters in the U.S.
What: July 4th is also Captain America's birthday, celebrated with the Annual Captain America Picnic to raise money for Veterans in need.
Where: Governor's Island, NYC
Notes: mark subject line if the thread is open or closed. Have fun! Comments will be frozen on Monday Aug 1st.

On July 4th, the hottest ticket was to Governor's Island for Captain America's picnic and fireworks show to benefit the Veterans. It was a who's who of superheroes, notable state and local politicians, celebrities, and a lot of Vets who wanted to meet and greet Steve Rogers.

Governor's island had ample space with plenty of walkways, set just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the city so close nearby. For those that couldn't fly, the easiest way to reach the island was by ferry. It's a family friendly picnic, and people have arrived with children and spouses in tow.

There are plenty of tables and chairs, as well as games and eating competitions. A brightly lit stage had been set up for live entertainment. Plenty of food is being served, the standard fare of hamburgers and hot dogs, and sandwiches, with desserts and drinks galore.

Fireworks start at 9:20 PM. Expect a really big show for the star spangled man with a plan, and to celebrate Independence Day!

Tony Stark was asking him for a handshake. Like, Tony Stark wanted to physically touch Ned. Willingly. He knew Strange had said this was the multiverse and reality, but... could this be a dream? He glanced down briefly to make sure he wasn't naked or in his pajamas again. He was still in his clothes, thankfully. He looked back up and extended his hand. The handshake probably was not the best Tony had ever endured because it lacked confidence.

"Uh, thanks." He smiled. Tony Stark not only wanted to touch him, he was telling him Good Job. Which considering how he had hacked Tony's Spider-Man suit and a few other of his systems in the passed... well, Ned was happy it wasn't him threatening a lawsuit or something.

"I like helping Peter. He does a lot of good, you know? I mean, not that you all don't because - obviously - here again and stuff, but -" Ned paused. He read the pamphlet which why he wasn't shocked that Tony was alive here, but he probably shouldn't be bringing up reminders of another universe where he was not.

Tony noted that handshake but kept smiling. He didn't want to be on the bad side of Peter's friends, but he wasn't going to do that by being a kiss ass either. Tony was exceptionally bad at it anyway.

"I'm not complaining. The alternative is that, you know." With a pause, he made a slit throat gesture with his finger and rolled his eyes afterward. "Peter's a good kid. He wants to do the right thing. So if he has people to rely on so he can do that, the more the merrier. Just...don't get caught. There's this whole fuzzy grey area and that's where we're operating right now."

He was pretty sure his lawyers would kick him out a window if he came to them with another problem right now.

"Uh, right." Was Iron Man basically telling him to continuing hacking? So cool. "I haven't been caught yet?" Though now that he said that, he probably jinxed it. Anyway, he definitely would keep that in mind if and when Peter needed him to do something. Usually Peter needed it for something really important. It wasn't like they were joy-hacking.

"This party's really big. And cool. Though you're probably used to this sort of thing, huh?" Which was both impressive and intimidating. "Is Captain America really around here?"

"Let's keep it that way," Tony said, at not being caught. He wondered if Ned needed anything so he could have an easier time keeping things under wraps. That usually meant that delivery guys were going to be dropping off a lot of new stuff at Ned's place in the next couple of days.

As for the parties? "Yeah, I've been to a lot of them. Some of them were a blur but, when in Vegas...." Some of them were barely a blur. More like a brightly colored smear, but he wasn't about to admit something like that. He cleared his throat at that thought and pointed off in Cap's direction. "Sure is. You should wish him a happy bee-day. He loves it!"

Tony wasn't really sure if Cap loved it. He tolerated it though. Kind of like he did while filming those PSAs for high schoolers.

"Me? Go talk to him? Are you sure?" He looked over to where Tony was pointing. He knew people said that people often looked smaller or less impressive in person, but so far Ned had to say those people had no idea what they were talking about. "Uh -" He looked back at Tony. "He won't even know who I am? And he looks really busy being all... birthday guy.. and stuff." He almost asked Tony if he thought it'd be okay for an autograph, but decided that was probably in poor taste. "I can like, barely talk to you, I have no idea how I'll talk to him."

"Hey, you'll be fine. Cap doesn't bite. He's a good guy. And he's been signing enough autographs to get a hand cramp."

That was the universe's way of saying It's ok to ask for an autograph!

"As for me," Tony continued, with the shrug of a shoulder. "We both know Peter. He's a good judge of character, so I know you're good too. Don't sweat it. But if you do start to sweat it, you can always wait until later and see him at the Tower."

Because of course, Ned would be getting a visitor's pass. It wasn't a free ride into the top floor Research & Development labs, but it was something?

"Tower?" First it was a question like what tower? and then the figurative light bulb went on for Ned and he got excited. "The Tower!" This was definitely the best day of his life. Well, other than the day he found out his best friend was Spider-Man, anyway. "Yeah, okay! I mean. I'm going to try to find Peter?" And MJ, too, though he was sure MJ would poke a lot of fun at him and he would like Peter there to help with the verbal shielding. "But I'll - I'll definitely go say hi to Captain America." Probably. Maybe. If he didn't pee himself first.

"..Thanks, Mr. Stark." He calmed down enough to say it sincerely and smile. "Peter's says a lot of nice stuff about you and you're pretty awesome in person, just fyi."

"Sure, go do that. And thanks! I am awesome." Tony could be nice but he still wasn't afraid to say that sort of thing either. "So are you. I'm glad Peter's got a good support group with you and MJ. His aunt doesn't know."

Which put a cramp in Happy's dating prospects, or so he kept hearing him grumble about. Plus it had to be hard on Peter, not being able to tell his aunt about that secret, even if she knew about the spider secret.

"If you need anything, don't hesitate to shout out on the network," Tony said, as he started to retreat. "Happy Fourth!"
