Who: Thor and Darcy
What: Spooky movies in a spooky building
When: mid-oct
Rating: Green
The fact that she hadn’t been invited to live in Avengers tower did not stop Darcy from hanging out there whenever she felt like it. Especially when it came to watching movies. She had zero qualms about taking over the screening room and curling up with a giant tub of popcorn. With Halloween fast approaching, she was in a spooky mood and decided to marathon the Child’s Play movies. There was nothing creepier than dolls.
When Thor texted her that he was in the city, she invited him to join her and was curled up under a blanket in the seat next to him, popcorn precariously balanced between them.

Thor was fascinated by these horror movies. The found footage ones had been his favourite, especially As Above, So Below . The fact that such real filming could take place with other realms, it was amazing to him.
“I do not understand how this is scary,” Thor commented half-way through the first movie. “For it is simply a doll, albeit a cunning one.” He reached for popcorn and chewed thoughtfully. “And did you notice that no one in this movie has a hammer or other blunt object to pierce the doll with? Why are Midgarian homes so woefully unprepared for supernatural entities? Where are their spellcasters? Their socerers? My mother and Loki excelled at wards and ensuring our home was safe.”
A pause.
“Although now that I think about it, that would explain why this building is now possessed.”
*
Of course Thor wouldn’t find movies like this frightening. Darcy wasn’t surprised, knowing that he’d probably seen much worse during his long lifetime. “Dolls are creepy though,” she explained. “They have those vacant stares, like they can see your soul. So the idea of them having a life of their own when you’re not watching is scary.”
She wasn’t sure if she should try to explain that here on Midgard, most people didn’t believe in spirits and magic, or at least they hadn’t before he landed on Earth and his brother unleashed an alien attack over Manhattan.
“Wait, what?” She had no idea the building was possessed and gripped the edges of her blanket a bit tighter, looking around nervously.

Dolls were not a regular part of Thor’s life, so he really didn’t understand how they were scary. They were simply effigies, nothing to worry about. And because sometimes human emotions were strange, Thor did not clue in that Darcy was showing anxiety, rather that she was showing interest in what Thor was saying.
“Oh yes -- have you not felt the change in electricity? Oh, I suppose not,” he added, furrowing his brow. “I have noticed items move around the building, and can sense the temperature dropping slightly. It is very reassuring to know that there is a supernatural being in the room. In fact, it was here earlier.” He gave a casual shrug. “You sat right next to it without any concern. I thought you were enjoying yourself.”

Darcy jumped up from the sofa and whirled around to look at the spot where she’d been sitting. She wasn’t sure what she expecting, it wasn’t like she was going to see Casper sitting there or something. “Can you see it? What’s it look like? Is it dangerous?”
The fact that Thor was so relaxed probably meant there wasn’t any imminent danger. Unfortunately the rising panic meant Darcy’s logic meter was offline.
*
"I can only sense it," Thor admitted with a shrug. He was apologetic about it too. After all, Darcy looked very worried and Thor felt bad for being the cause of it.
"I shouldn't it being dangerous. These documentaries and movies have led me to believe that a malevolent force is really the cause of the majority of hauntings. No one is angry here...or murdered. So nothing to fuss about, really." He gave her a grin. "Are you admitting a fear, Darcy? I'm shocked."
*
He should feel bad. Especially since he was apparently going to mock her for it. Not that Darcy could ever really be mad at Thor. She fake-pouted at him though.
“I don’t like things I can’t see,” she said. “How do you know it’s not dangerous? If these movies prove anything, it’s that there’s a lot of dangerous stuff out there.” And that wasn’t mentioning all the very real dangers they faced on a regular basis.

“Midgardians often have leaps of faith and believe in things they cannot see.” Such as religion, physics, gravity, etc. etc. “But in terms of not being scared, Dary -- let us be frank for a moment. Is there anything on this realm that brings me to my knees in sheer terror?”
He raised his brows and smiled before quickly adding. “And Jane doesn’t count.” That was a person he never wanted mad at him.
“You are safe with me. Now come,” he continued, patting the seat next to him. “Let us continue. I believe there are several movies in this series and I am most interested to know how a doll can get married.”
