Plot Outline & Teams

THINGS TO NOTE:

• In order to hit multiple locations at once, our villainess of the week (former-and-somewhat-current) HYDRA baddie Candice Lee has scattered various remote boxes connected to the trident from her central location. She is able to control the functions of the trident and the boxes they are connected to from there - hence the floods that occur around the world.

• Candy has sent her henchmen to each location to man the boxes. The henchmen won't be too difficult to take on - they're sort of a dumber offshoot of HYDRA. Think neckbeards and red hats with H.A.T.E. on them which actually stands for 'HYDRA Authoritarian Troop Enforcement' because why the hell not? Destroy the boxes, contain the floods, wipe up spills with paper towels, do whatever you want to the henchmen - there will be plenty for our heroes to fight!

	This was Darcy's first official mission and she'd be lying if she said she wasn't nervous. It was hard knowing that people she liked and cared about were out there risking their lives while she was safely ensconced at headquarters. She was carefully monitoring the comms, listening for any sign of distress or opportunity to jump in and help somehow. (Replies frozen) (Parent) (Thread)

This felt like coming home though from the other side. Natasha was usually out in the field giving the reports instead of sifting through the information. Unless you counted those five years after the Snap in the main universe. She shook the thought out of her head and focused back on the screens. Everyone was where they were supposed to be. Some were encountering more issues than others and everyone was dealing with water. Water everywhere.

"Can't say I expected to be on this side of things again so soon," Natasha said quietly to Darcy. But Natasha wasn't sure what she'd be doing out there in the water either. She wasn't a super soldier or Asgardian or equipped with powers that would be helpful.

Darcy glanced over at Natasha, a little surprised to find the woman who'd been both a SHIELD agent and an Avenger working in a support role on this mission. When all the files hit the internet, she'd spent days poring over them, so she felt like she had a pretty decent grasp on the Black Widow and wasn't ashamed to admit she was a fan.

"Do you wish you were out there?" she asked. Maybe it wasn't the most appropriate or considerate question, but Darcy was nothing if not blunt.

Natasha shrugged. "Yes and no. Not sure what I'd be doing aside from directing traffic." Which she was basically doing from here anyway. Managing the various incoming streams would've been harder out in the field. "I'd also be pretty waterlogged and not much help I don't think."

She tapped a few keys on the screen in front of her to bring up a map of the energy signatures emanating from all over the world. Hopefully they would start flickering out one by one as the teams destroyed the sources.

"Yeah, I guess this is a little outside of your regular skill set," Darcy agreed. Fighting water wasn't exactly an easy task, even for a superhero. It was too bad that Thor couldn't just control it like the weather.

She leaned forward so she could get a better look at one of the energy blips on the map. "Man, I hope everyone is okay." The comms were fairly quiet at the moment and she hoped that just meant they were busy kicking ass.

	She chuckled. "I can do shock and awe with the best of them, but the elements are a little bit outside of my realm of expertise. I wouldn't want to be a liability out there." "I hope so too. 	If she was ever in serious danger, Darcy would want Natasha to rescue her. Well, honestly, she'd be fine with anyone rescuing her, but she felt like she'd enjoy watching Natasha kick ass more than the others. "You'd be less of a liability than I would be," she said. "You might surprise yourself. You've been hanging around us for a bit now, I'd imagine you've picked some things up by osmosis." Natasha glanced at Darcy. "If you haven't, would you want some training? If I remember right, you're part of SHIELD now and every agent, no matter their position, should have training."

One of the lights indicating a box blinked out. It meant that their various teams were managing to find them despite the rising waters.

Darcy looked away from the screens, the surprise evident in her expression. "Is that an offer?" she asked. Like hell would she turn down self defense lessons from Natasha Romanoff. And not just because the mental image of rolling around and getting sweaty with her was so appealing.

"I'm great with a taser," she said. "But I wouldn't mind learning some other stuff."

Natasha glanced back at Darcy. "Absolutely. Everyone should know how to handle themselves in the field."

She made a mental note to talk to Fury about what training programs they had in place for those less well acquainted with field work. From the sounds of it, there really wasn't anything and if they were wanting to keep this new SHIELD as small and contained as possible, everyone needed to at least be able not to get themselves killed in the field. Being helpful was another matter.

"Mmm, yeah, that's all well and good until someone decides to take that taser away. Any thoughts on what you'd like to learn? Hand to hand is a must. Maybe some weapons training, if you're okay with that?"

	"I am willing to learn anything you want to teach me," Darcy said. She even managed to keep the hint of suggestion out of her voice when she spoke, which was a huge achievement for her. Something beeped on one of her screens and she pulled her attention away from Natasha. "Looks like we have a bead on the Manhattan box," she said. "Want to let the team know?"
