Plot Outline & Teams

THINGS TO NOTE:

• In order to hit multiple locations at once, our villainess of the week (former-and-somewhat-current) HYDRA baddie Candice Lee has scattered various remote boxes connected to the trident from her central location. She is able to control the functions of the trident and the boxes they are connected to from there - hence the floods that occur around the world.

• Candy has sent her henchmen to each location to man the boxes. The henchmen won't be too difficult to take on - they're sort of a dumber offshoot of HYDRA. Think neckbeards and red hats with H.A.T.E. on them which actually stands for 'HYDRA Authoritarian Troop Enforcement' because why the hell not? Destroy the boxes, contain the floods, wipe up spills with paper towels, do whatever you want to the henchmen - there will be plenty for our heroes to fight!

"Got it," Sam said.

His primary goal was to move innocents out of harms way, though being able to easily identify who was innocent and who was hostile would help with that mission. He was also keeping a close eye on Bucky to make sure the man didn't literally get in over his head, though he wouldn't exactly admit that.

He grabbed a couple of kids who'd been hiking when the flood waters began to rise and flew them out of the danger zone before returning and zeroing in on several red hatted men approaching a family attempting to have a nice barbecue in the park.

"Picnic grove due East is under attack," he said, swooping down to lend a hand.

Flying up above everything, Carol was trying to get a lay of the land when she spotted several more people in red hats. Between trying to get to them, and moving debris, she was constantly on the move. When she could, she made sure to keep an eye on the other two just in case.

People were fleeing and it was hard to wade through them all, but she was managing. Hearing Sam's call for attention, she returned a "Coming in." before she flew over and landed down with a splash.

She hit them. A lot. Most went flying, Carol wasn't sure that she cared so much. Anyone that she saw struggling, she protected. Then she was back up and flying around. She didn't really see the huge wave that was coming in faster than anyone really expected.

Bucky had been working his way to the picnic grove, flinging one of the red hat jerks into the rising water. He stopped when he heard crying, quickly locating a harassed kid that was trying to cower and hold onto a trash bin. He quickly plucked her up and went running, using the tops of some picnic tables to jump as far as he could from that wall of water he just noticed.

"Surf's up!" he said into the comm, a lot louder than he usually spoke. There wasn't a lot of time to get away though, and he worried about Sam. He hoped there was time to get airborne, and was already prepared to protect this kid all the way to the parking lot and then turn around and go back if need be, waves be damned. It was quickly turning into a rescue mission if they couldn't find the cause. "Heading to the parking lot."

At least there, they might find some of the rescue crews in rafts that were trying to help with evacuation.

Sam was definitely too busy evacuating folks to pay attention to the incoming wave. Even when Bucky spoke loudly into the comms, he landed back in the middle of the picnic grove, looking around for any stragglers who hadn't gotten out yet.

And realized he was in trouble. "Shit," he swore, trying to hit the controls that would make him airborne and failing to do so in time. The wave crashed over him and he managed to get out a "Mayday" before being swept away, his head banging against one of the wooden pillars holding up the canopy over the space.

Turning just in time to see Sam get hit by the wave, she turned course and flew over towards him as fast as she could. She landed into the water with a splash, fighting against the currant until she could find him. Pushing aside debris like it was nothing, and wading through it all, she finally lifted a large piece up to find Sam trapped. Pushing it aside, she scooped him up and flew him to where Bucky was.

"Fuck I think he hit his head. Sam? Sam can you hear me??" she asked, shaking him slightly, looking very worried. But she also saw other people who had been knocked over. "I.. I gotta go. Take care of him. Please. I'll be right back."

And then she was off.

Bucky, who by that point was useless in the water, was in one of the resuce rafts trying to paddle it further inland. Several emergency responders found themselves in the same boat (no pun intended) when they had to jump into the rafts or risk being spirited away by the big waves.

He nodded to Carol when Sam landed in the raft and kept paddling, knowing that Carol could pretty much barrel through anything better than either of they could. Of course, though, this was going to be fodder for a multitude of deadpan jokes. When Sam woke up to hear them, of course.

"That thing has to be in a trash can or the restrooms on the east side," Bucky said into the comm to Carol. "They seemed to be interested in keeping people away from there."

At this point, everything was ruined or wiped away by the waves, so if things got busted up? Well. It'd have to get fixed anyway. The mess was already there.

With a sharp nod of her head in recognition, she went off towards the bathrooms. In her 'way' were a bunch of very large men with big beards who definitely looked like they were interested in protecting things. Of course there was also a couple who had likely been swept away by the waves themselves. She landed next to them with a thud. They came at her all at once, but she quickly took care of them. Everyone was getting a punch to the face.

If she threw some people into the rest room then so be it. As she searched for the box, she pushed through without much care. When she finally found it, there was hardly anyone else left to fight. Raising both her arms, she let a blast of energy erupt from her fists, destroying the box with a loud explosion.

Sam seemed to be rousing a bit after Bucky paddled the raft toward the palm trees of a nearby hotel. Hopefully it would be a safe place to wait close to while the water receded, and leave them on what was going to be some very drenched green space.

He whistled long and low at the explosion, the hint of a smirk on his face as he looked over at Sam.

"That gal pal of yours packs a helluva punch," Bucky said, once again sharing his observation with as few words as possible. "Looks like we're all washed up in comparison."

After a brief contemplative pause, he couldn't resist adding, "One of us more than the other."

Of course Bucky's smirking face was the first thing Sam saw when he opened his eyes. He could tell they were in a boat of some kind and wasn't entirely sure what happened. At least he wasn't dead. Though the way his head was ringing, he might wish he was.

"Shut up, Barnes," he managed, wincing even as he muttered the words. The explosion was a good clue that Carol had eliminated the threat and he was hoping that meant they could just chill until they headed home. So much for enjoying their trip to a tropical paradise.
