Who: Daisy and Strange
What: Daisy is really damn confused about this New York
When: Today
Rating: Red, deaths and violence mentioned

The silence in the cockpit became stifling, to the point that Daisy couldn’t stand it anymore. She shoved up out of the chair, ignoring the looks from the others as she headed towards the back of the ship. Leaving May and Coulson behind had been one of the hardest things that she had ever done. He had found her, been through so much with her in such a short time, and had had her back even when she hadn’t trusted herself. He’d given up his one chance at survival so that she could save the world. It didn’t matter how long she would have been given to say goodbye, no amount of words would have been enough for her to explain how much Coulson had meant to her.

As she passed by the command area, Daisy paused and sighed, then headed towards the cargo bay. She didn’t want to see or talk about the hunt for Fitz right now. The Fitz that had ripped the device out of her, that had caused the events leading to Ruby’s death, was dead. They had never gotten a chance to work though what had happened, to repair their friendship. And the Fitz they were going to be looking for, wasn’t the one who had done that, which meant she couldn’t hold it against him.

Daisy was trying to deal with those loses, while wrapping her head around the Fitz and Deke situation when everything was turned upside down. At least for her. It felt like everything shoving in on her at once while at the same time it was trying to pull her apart. It took a few seconds for the vibrations to settle, for the pain to subside, before she realized where she was. Or rather, where she wasn’t.

She reached for her ear comm, taping and calling for her team. “Mack? Jemma? Are you there?” she asked, staring up at the Statue of Liberty. She didn’t get an answer, not that she suspected she would. Wished it, but didn’t think it would happen. The vibrations of this world, were just a little bit off, slightly out of tune of what she was used to. She turned and stared back at New York, confused and worried.

“What the hell did we change now?”

Nearby, there was a sputter of sparks that quickly became a whirring circle like fireworks. It soon opened into a ring, which a middle-aged man dressed in Tibetan garb stepped through, red cape flowing from his shoulders. As he stepped through, he cleared his throat to get her attention.

He knew her on sight, having met a Daisy Johnson over a year ago, but she didn't stay long before she was pulled away again. He wasn't sure what to expect. Each time was different, even if the names and faces were the same.

"Hello, I'm Dr. Strange," he stated. "I'm a Master of the Mystic Arts. I work with Tony Stark, and I'm an acquaintance of the Avengers. I'm here to tell you that you have entered a new universe, and to answer any questions."

The collar of the cape drooped down to tap him on the shoulder.

"Oh, right," he grumbled and then spoke up. "We have a pamphlet that explains the basics, that I advise you should read later. It's in the welcome...package."

Or, as everyone not so affectionately thought of it, the 'Welcome to Hell' package. He nearly tripped up and said that, himself.

When she first saw the sparks, Daisy was on guard for nearly anything. She really wasn't expecting what Strange had said though.

"I've heard of you, through SHIELD files." She was hoping that the Avengers were here, and hopefully her team. Or most of them.

"A welcome package? Sounds a bit like what SHIELD has. Do we get lanyards with it? Because I sort of miss those." She was joking, mostly. She just missed Koenig brothers, and the help they had been.

There was a pause and then she asked a very important question, for her. "What's going on in Chicago right now? Is it in one piece?"

"No lanyards, sorry. But you hearing about me before makes sense," he conceded. "I heard from Stark that I was on Project Insight's hit list. What doesn't make sense to me is Chicago. The only thing going on there is a higher than average crime rate compared to the rest of the country. Was it not in one piece where you came from?"

The cape flared up a bit, as though the bottom corners were throwing its 'hands' up in shock. Meanwhile, Dr. Strange looked deeply concerned. Questions like that couldn't be ignored. There hadn't been any bleed-over from the prime universe that affected Chicago. Not yet, at least.

"Wild guess, but this sounds like it's going to be a long story. One we shouldn't have by the statue that took a stroll a few months ago."

She looked up at Lady Liberty and sighed, shaking her head. "Still not the strangest thing I've heard lately." It might take a few weeks for the strange to start affecting her again.

"Where ever you think we should go, because it is a long story, that ends with Talbot trying to rip the city apart in search of Gravitonium." She still wasn't over that fight, and just how close she came to him absorbing her and her powers.

That hadn't happened yet, or there were some subtle changes to that timeline that they weren't privy to. What Stephen did remember was the last Daisy Johnson was a fugitive for attempting to kill a General. Being out in the open might be a bad idea. From a mystical perspective, he could sense she had powers as well. One of the Enhanced, but controlled. Even so, it was better to have any conversation in a more relaxing atmosphere, away from prying eyes.

"If it runs the risk of effecting our timeline, I'm interested," Dr. Strange replied, opening a smaller portal. He reached through and drew out a small package before the portals closed, and he turned to open a new one, large enough for them both to walk through, side by side. Beyond, there was a fully furnished apartment.

"This is the Thirty Warren building," he explained, "where new arrivals stay. Stark set it up with Wakanda, and the penthouse is a diplomatic residence for visiting dignitaries. If you've ever had any trouble with the government before, you'll be safe. You can access the network with what's in this package, and contact either Fury or Stark."

He walked through and waited on the other side, setting the welcome package down on a kitchen table.

"Weird portals to a kick ass looking apartment? Who could resist?" she muttered as she followed him through to the apartment. It was fancier and more upscale than anything she had stayed in, and a lot better than her cabin in Zephyr One.

She wandered around the kitchen a bit, figuring most of the cooking stuff would go to waste. "I think I'll troll the internet for a while before contacting anyone. It's been... a rough few days." She was still processing, and needed to just ignore it all for a bit.

"I don't know, it depends on a few things, mainly where General Talbot is in this world. And I'm safe from the government right now, at least as long as the Accords hold." She paused and looked at Strange. "The Accords are a thing here, aren't they?" That would take some weight off of her, not having to follow the rules of them, feeling leashed.

He always thought that taking some quiet time to look things over and read the pamphlet was a good idea. Since there was a prepaid card in the package, picking up some beer and pizza always seemed like decent non-destructive coping mechanisms. As for the Accords, Dr. Strange winced slightly.

"Actually, you can blame Stark for siccing his lawyers on the Feds for violating constitutional rights during an unlawful arrest. We had to break him out of The Raft. He was having another pissing contest with Secretary of State Ross, and pushed the case all the way to the Supreme Court. They ruled it unconstitutional in the U.S., and any Avengers declared a fugitive for breaking with the Accords agreement? Off the hook."

As for General Talbot, he wasn't sure about that variable.

"The last I checked on that for you, he was in a care facility. That was last year. I can check again, or you can look up that information on the network. If it will protect this timeline and losing any lives unnecessarily, we'll have to discuss prevention measures."

He paused and was certain to add, "I'm a doctor. I took an oath to save lives, not end them. If he hasn't done anything wrong, then killing him is not an option."
