"Well," he returned with a small shrug, pushing his hands into his pockets. "I can't say I know a whole lot about animals. My brother and I, we grew up pretty well on the street, so we never got to have a pet or the like. But, you know..." He trailed off a moment, letting his eyes hood as he smiled into her eyes. "I wouldn't mind learning." Jene knew he had one hell of a sob story, and he was not above pulling it out when it would serve him well.
"Gia," he echoed with a warm smile, offering her his hand. "I'm Jene, I do construction. It's not as intimate as animal whispering, but it's a job, and I do enjoy it," he offered warmly. "Who did you learn from, if I may be so bold?" Well, talking well about the animals seemed to change her tone quite a bit.
