"I will be fine no matter what happens, as well." He reminded gently, giving a small sigh. "If anything I will be better..." Concern touched his features as he watched her sit, moving closer and pausing to motion to the bench, a wordless request to sit before he did settle beside her. Near, but not too close. "Being lost is one thing... I hate to think of you with some crushing, pig of a man." He frowned sharply at the idea, rolling his shoulders a little to try and shake off he thought. "I'm rather surprised my father has not decided to marry me off to try and 'fix' me," he announced with a thin chuckle. That was all he needed, to be married off to some noblewoman who would forever think of him as her husband who could have been Fire Lord...
He hesitated before he reached to put a hand on her shoulder, giving it a light, reassuring squeeze. "I imagine it is every bit as terrible as you want to make it... but you are a strong woman. I've no doubt you'll come through it better than anyone." He pressed his lips into a thin line, nodding as she spoke. "I do not plan on it, it was a passing thought, but..." He rolled his shoulders again, absently scratching at his shirt collar again.
He nodded in agreement to her words, watching her face as she spoke. "We will get through it," he agreed. A thin sigh left him, brows knitting as she continued. The melancholy in her tone caused him to turn his eyes away, hearing her in such a state was simply too much. "I am not sure I have ever heard you speak like this before." He sighed and shook his head, clasping his hands together to keep from reaching out to her. "...It will be fine. I am sure it will be fine." Too bad there was not a great deal of conviction in his words.
