When he apologized she set the bench back on its four feet then turned, dropping onto the bench to sit and look up at him, or rather his neck as she could not make herself meet his gaze, too bashful after that kiss. "Do not be silly, Kozu, we were talking about you. You don't need to worry about me, I'll be fine, no matter what happens." she may have been a little sad as she said it, still against the idea of marrying someone she did not know, but she would accept it. The lives of female royals were ones of compromise, it was no different for Xiu. "You are very good and sweet to ask me that."
And he was. He was just trying to fix things for her as he had always done, she could only hope that he would someday figure out a way to start fixing things for himself. "There is nothing you can do, beyond reminding me that this isn't as terrible as my mind wants to make it out to be." perhaps she was being melodramatic, it was not the end of the world, it was not even close. But then a thought occurred to her, "If you want to do something for me you could stay away from the army and navy. Our two nations may never go to war again, but I am not comfortable with the possibility of something happening to you."
She finally found the courage to meet his eyes, "We'll be okay though. If you never find your destiny and if I marry a fat idiot and pop-out a legion of ugly children, we will still get by and get through it all." Xiu smiled, sliding her hands behind her knees as she sat there. "Though I suppose if all of that happens to me it will be your destiny to overthrow me, I imagine my head being separated from my shoulders would be a nice reprieve from life."
