There was many a time when Cheng felt so very fortunate to have a wife who was also a great healer. The earthquake had been rough and had left his senses ringing for several days, something which the lessening tremors did not help with in the least. He had made sure to help with the closing of the main street's crack before he let Naida fuss him into bed. Once he could walk a straight line he began doing more of that--walking.
The sand-beds he had created needed to be restored to more solid soil. Foundations on other buildings he helped to repair. And the palace itself... He hadn't been chosen for that duty, but he had overheard other earthbenders talking of it. That project sounded like it would take a long time. The fact the place was still livable was a credit to its engineers.
Cheng was just happy to keep an eye on his portion of the city. The place itself was too large to walk around the whole of it, so he corralled some other earthbenders in the city to walk around other portions while allowing some overlap. He still felt very faint tremors and wanted to be certain that it was simply the usual murmurs of the island and not a prelude to something else.
Part of his walking included the Jasmine Dragon, which he was relieved to see had been reopened. He gave the door a token knock before going in.
"Hello, Basim," he said with a tired smile. "I heard a rumor you were yelling for me."
