Chaos struck the Avalonis National Bank yesterday, when a team of professional criminals assaulted the bank at two-thirty in the afternoon. There were seven assailants total, six within the bank and one outside, and they did not appear to be amateurs. Eight customers and eight employees of the bank, including this reporter, were taken hostage by the group, who were armed but did not display any superhuman powers. Thankfully, one brave civilian among the hostages, who wishes to remain nameless, managed to send out a message alerting police and the AVA to the situation, doing so at great risk to herself.
Members of the AVA and the Knights, reportedly Slipstream, Echo, Vesta and Blue Jay, were quick to respond and, thanks to their heroic efforts, no hostages were harmed. In the chaos of the smoke-filled bank, and due to concern for the welfare of the hostages over apprehension of the robbers, the criminals managed to escape with what is currently estimated to be between five and ten thousand dollars. In spite of this, it is certain that it was the intervention of these heroes that both kept the hostages safe and prevented the robbers from taking even more money.
One member of the group, reportedly the getaway driver, was captured by the hero Slipstream and turned over to the Avalonis police. However, he escaped custody before reaching the police department. Were the police overwhelmed by his cohorts? Was this another example of poor police work by the ACPD? Or was it in the best interests of the officers in question that he not remain in custody? Only time will tell, but for now the group remains at large. The police are currently searching for the bank robbers and are asking for help from the public to find them. However, despite the team not wearing masks, wildly varying accounts of their appearances are making it difficult to identify the members. We can only assume the AVA is also searching for these criminals as well and it is our hope that they will soon be brought to justice.
