Who: Erika Sieger & OPEN!!! What: Studying Where: Main living room When: Noon-ish
I've seen myself On a thousand faces Strung out on life's path I would add up what you mean to me But I cannot do the math I'm a special lover sometimes I'm a sycophantic courtier With an elegant repose Because the only one I come undone for is you
Vanessa Carlton's voice rang out and into Ru's ears thanks to her ever-reliable MP3 player. This was the song that she always played when she needed to relax and focus. She had a test in the next week that was worth over half of her entire grade and she was beginning to freak out.
Lounging on the most comfortable of all couches, she swept a blond curl out of her face. ``Why does studying have to suck...so much.`` She added emphasis to the last few words because, you know, she was a teenage brat. Living in the Vallestaire Manor was nothing special - and she'd be the first to tell you. Of course there was all this magic protection crap going on, but other than that it was like sharing a giant house with some freaks, some geeks and her siblings.
In the past few weeks, she had taken a particular disliking to some of the Fierro's and practically all the Bathory's. The latter were absolutely, positively freakin' weird. The brother seemed pervy, the old sister seemed suicidal and the youngest sister was like a Wednesday Adams incarnate. Meanwhile, Erika had deemed the Fierro sister's the 'brunette bitches'. But it seemed all three of the siblings had an air of arrogance about them. Her discontent lied in particular with the one named Guiliana. Or her name something to that effect.
Now, Erika was a normal teenage girl. She judged fast, made enemies even faster, but she stood her ground. One of her greatest vices, and she would even willingly admit this, was that she judged people way too quickly. And in particular, her judgements were exceptionally brutal. The fact that she hadn't gotten to know any of these families just made her look all the more like a fool.
Being the youngest at the Vallestaire Manor didn't help anything either. While her brothers and sister tried to show her the pathway to being a good, caring citizen, Erika just didn't take to it. Now, to please her siblings she did often try to keep her mouth shut or be friendly, but some people just didn't deserve her time of the day.
While she laid on couch, flipping through her text book, that same MP3 player that was blaring Vanessa Carlton a minute ago was not playing a loud song by Amy Winehouse. Reaching over to grab the rice krispie she had stolen from the kitchen, Erika desperately hoped something interesting would happen soon, 'cause if that were not the case, sleep would soon overtake her.
