All the World is A Stage - OOC

Hello there! I'm Ali, the mod, and I'm not switching journals to write this because I'd just have to switch back in a few minutes anyway.

We're opening up the intros with four players; one more and we'll get the game started! (Here's hoping some holds come through!)

Anyway, as mentioned, I'm Ali. I'll be playing two characters here: Sam Vimes from Discworld and John Watson from Sherlock.

If you're not familiar with the Discworld series, it's essentially high fantasy that parodies everything at some point or another. Sam's the commander of the Watch in Ankh-Morpork, a big city with just about everything imaginable in it. He's a cynical bastard who's unwillingly gained a lot of political power, but he'll always be a cop at heart. You do not mess with the Law in his city or you'll have to deal with him. He'll pretty much be adopting (or one-manning, unless we get more police types) the police force in the village because he is incapable of not being a cop for any length of time. If you're familiar with the books, he's coming from after The Fifth Elephant.

Next is John Watson from BBC's Sherlock, which is a modern update of the Sherlock Holmes stories. John's an army surgeon who's been invalided out thanks to a gunshot wound in the shoulder. He's coming from the first episode, just after he's met Sherlock but before he's even seen the flat, mostly because the concept of Sherlock dealing with a John who doesn't really know him amuses me. He's in a bit of a bad spot right now; he's been seeing a therapist who thinks he has PTSD and a psychosomatic limp when he's really just incredibly bored and feeling worthless and useless. (Okay, he does have the psychosomatic limp.) He'll start up a medical practice in the village once the game starts up.

I've been roleplaying for about 3 years now, on and off, and in the last year pretty much exclusively PSLs, but I've been really looking forward to getting back into games, and when I was perusing Ad Comms, this guy here *points to journal* pretty much screamed at me that he wanted to come play here.

He's obnoxious like that. He's one of my louder muses.

ANYWAY. This is James T. Kirk, Captain of the USS Enterprise as he was portrayed in the recent rebooted film, Star Trek XI (mostly because the daddy angst that falls off of him in waves is so much more fun to play out than Shatner being Shatner). He's a bit of a flirt with GIANT commitment issues and an arrogant attitude that can irritate the most patient of people. He's a charmer, though - most people he's met find it hard not to like (or at least tolerate) him eventually. He's post-film, so (theoretically) nicely secured in his Captain role. Except that now he's here instead.

Plot ideas / thread ideas / other Trek-verse character ideas *cough* / questions / comments / concerns are always incredibly shiny. My AIM is MandyShadowGirl and I'm usually online in the evenings, but if I'm not - I'm always available on gmail, which has the same username.

Hi everyone!

My name is Taylor! So excited to be here!! (If you can't already tell from my excessive use of exclamation points...) Anyways, my first character to bring to the game is Elizabeth Bennett (Lizzy for short) from the novel Pride and Prejudice written by Jane Austen. It's my favorite book of all time and that is why I chose it. Basically, she is from the 1800s so she is unfamiliar with modern technology, and the customs of modern society for that matter. I plan on giving her an adventurous curiosity towards these things, though (a little nugget from a movie adaption called Lost in Austen). For those of you who have read the book or watched the movie, I'm pulling my Lizzy from before she met Mr. Darcy....so if anyone wants to bring Darcy in, I wouldn't be opposed. ;)
