Fred wasn't sure exactly what happened. One moment, she was standing there, unable to move, and the next, she felt warm all over before everything went black as it seemed she was falling.
The next thing she was aware of was Cait calling her name as she felt like she was swimming through layers and layers of white fog. Then she felt pain rushing through her like she had fallen and hadn't been able to catch herself. Slowly, she tried to push herself up, only to fall back and let out a groan, her knee throbbing.
"What happened?" she managed to croak out, turning on her side and looking over at her friend. She pushed her hair out of her face and grimaced. "Are you all right? There...there was a light and...then...did we fall?"
"Sorry about that, but I didn't have time to catch you since I couldn't afford for us to stay there long," the same voice that had spoken before rang out. Blinking, Fred looked over to find a figure standing in a doorway. She was able to actually get a good look at him and felt her throat tighten in fear when she recognized him.
