When Myka saw the look on Artie's face, Myka knew this was big. She had dealt enough with other government agents to know. But she wasn't prepared for what he actually ended up telling them had happened. Selling secrets to the Russians. Her eyes widening, she looked over at him in disbelief.
Artie had sold secrets.
"Why didn't you think we needed to know?" she said softly, tilting her head, feeling a bit like she had been punched in the stomach. She liked Artie a lot and to hear this...
"I didn't think it would come up again," Artie finally said. "McPherson was gone. I thought he had died or been imprisoned or...I thought he was out of the picture. But he knows, and if you see the records involving him, you'll find the information about me."
Myka didn't know what else to say as they looked at each other. She knew that people changed a lot over time, and it was years ago that Artie had done what he had. But still...
"I'm sorry. I really didn't think it was something..." He took a deep breath. "Everything else you need to know about him will be in the records."
Artie took a deep breath and looked at Mrs. Frederic. "Maybe we should let them go back to the boarding house for the rest of the day so they can look over the records if they want."
