John was glad that Mrs. Frederic agreed that they should use some of the artifacts to protect the Warehouse. After seeing what some of them could do, he knew that they could be a help if put to use, and he knew that Cait, Fred and Regan would be able to figure out what would be the most helpful.
As Mrs. Frederic then told them about the other security measures they were putting in place, he reached under the table and took his wife's hand. It all sounded reasonable enough, all things considered.
"So are we just going to wait for McPherson to make the first move?" John asked.
"I'm afraid we may have to. Like I said, he's good at hiding, always have been. We're searching, but..." Mrs. Frederic raised her hands and spread them a bit. It was the first time John could remember her actually admitting that something was not going exactly the way she wanted it to.
"Maybe we can help?" Fred said. "I mean, I know you don't want us leaving the Warehouse, but if we could look at any records you have, we might be able to--."
"No!" Artie said before taking a deep breath. "That's not a good idea."
"Artie, what harm is looking at his records going to do? We're not going to go after him personally," John pointed out.
As Artie put his head in his hands, Mrs. Frederic looked at him. "Artie...I think it's time you told them."
