Fred ate her food, thinking that Claudia had a good idea about using some of the artifacts to booby trap the Warehouse. Swallowing, she frowned at Artie, but then Jack jumped in to try to convince him that he was wrong. He was right about her - she had learned to shoot from her father mainly to help him keep coyotes away from her father's cattle herd, and she knew some martial arts, but it was nothing compared to what the others knew.
What she could do, however, was build things. She'd managed to protect herself a few times in Eureka that way. So she was glad when Artie relented and agreed to Talk to Mrs. Frederic about it.
When Mrs. Frederic arrived while Pete was talking, everyone turned to look at her. Despite her protests that she could wait while they finished eating, it was hard to do so. There was just something about her - something...old, like she'd seen more than most people could even imagine. It made it impossible to ignore her when she was in the room.
"I have a feeling that we should probably go ahead and talk," Artie said. "I told them about McPherson as you probably guessed."
"Yes, I gathered," Mrs. Frederic said with a nod. "Good to see that you settled down after your temper tantrum last night."
She picked up one of the cookies and took a small bite before going to other side of the room and looking at all them.
"The safety of the Warehouse and all of you is our priority. We don't want to give McPherson any chance to get in here through any of you, so please don't see the order that you stay confined as a punishment. It's not," she said.
"We were just telling Artie that we should probably set up traps in the Warehouse using some of the artifacts. Just in case," Fred said, hoping that she agreed, especially if she wanted to keep them safe.
