Myka rubbed her shoulder as she looked at the others, glad that they agreed with her that the problem wasn't their performance. Mrs. Frederic could be hard to read sometimes, but they did know when she was mad at them about something. Whatever was going on, she had a feeling that it had to do with Artie.
When Regan mentioned what her father had said about keeping them safe, Myka furrowed her brow and looked at her. "He's concerned for our safety?" she asked. "But we go after artifacts all the time."
"Maybe it doesn't have to do with artifacts," Fred said, pursing her lips together. When the others looked at her, she shrugged. "Well, we know that we're not the only people in the world who want these artifacts, especially considering some of the lengths we've had to go to in order to get them back from the people that have them. Maybe they're worried about someone, not something."
Myka nodded at the other woman, realizing that she was on to something. "When I went through service training, they made the point several times that it's not the weapon that's the most dangerous thing. It's the person wielding it. Because if someone is set on doing something, they'll do whatever they can, even if the weapon is taken away."
"I think we need to make Artie talk to us," Fred said with a sigh.
"Remind him that we're not just red shirts and he needs to trust us and let us help him," Myka agreed.
