Daphne had been making her way through the courtyard, with plans of eventually finding herself at the lake. Weekends always seemed like the time to be outside. She was stuck inside the castle far too much during the week, and stolen moments outside rarely felt like enough. A day like today, though - she could be out here as long as she pleased.
Although she wasn't paying much mind to the students around her, as she began to draw up behind a pair of other seventh years she couldn't help but overhear snatches of conversation. Though not much of a one for gossip, Daphne couldn't help but tune in once she'd caught on to something interesting, and Hannah's strange little hum captured Daphne's attention.
She was friends with neither of them but knew them well enough based on classes, as far as she was concerned. And their hushed tones seemed nearly...conspiratorial. In an attempt to make out their words a bit more easily - she could swear there was something about books and meetings - Daphne quickened her pace.
Unfortunately, in doing so she managed to overlook a small rock protruding in her path. It caught her foot and she fell forward, landing on her hands and knees as the book she was intending to read flew out of her hands and into the back of Hannah's legs. So much for stealth. "Ah, bloody -"
