At least they appeared to be on the same page in all of this. Ernie, feeling a bit relieved, grinned in response, which certainly seemed easier then attempting to find words to produce an articulate reply.
But as it was still quite dark, Ernie attempted to find words that weren't incredibly awkward, even though he was entirely sure that he wouldn't be able to succeed.
