Well...that was far from helpful. Luckily, Ernie tended to do well enough under crisis, though where, exactly, he'd managed to develop that skill, he didn't know.
He shot a silencing spell, but suspected that the damage was done as the voices were now easily audible and clearly wondering what the noise had been.
They had to move quickly.
Not even bothering with words, Ernie grabbed Hazel's hand and pulled her through the closest door which (fortunately) was unlocked. The room, a ridiculously small storage closet, was dark and tiny but Ernie didn't dare say anything or try and cast lumos.
He didn't want to do anything that might possibly alert attention to their presence.
