The whole prefect thing was still very new for Susan. She had only been wearing the badge for a few weeks now, ever since Hannah had to leave because of her mum. She missed her best friend, now that she was staying home and didn't seem to know quite when she would be ready to come back. They had been writing letters back and forth and, of course, Susan's mum was trying her best to help the Abbotts through all of this, but Susan felt pretty useless being here at Hogwarts. It seemed like the most she could do was try and keep Hannah up to date in the classes they had together and taking over her position as a prefect.
So, now Susan stood in the middle of the Great Hall, waiting for her partner for rounds. So far, she had only done rounds a few times and they always seemed to be fairly boring, unless she was doing them with a good friend. But, tonight she was stuck with Regan Avery, a Slytherin fifth year and she was not looking forward to it. She didn't know Regan well, but the two had butted heads in the past and she didn't have high hopes for tonight.
While she waited, she was reading a letter from her mum that had arrived during dinner. It was just the usual update from home; talking about her dad's business, about things at the WWN, Quidditch updates, as if Susan didn't listen to her mum's show... Nothing terribly exciting.
