The sweetness of the act was enough to set something loose in Hazel's stomach, crashing and fluttering around, and she hoped he wouldn't let go.
"I know," she responded, looking down, mouth twisting in thought because what she knew was that he was right about the latter, that neither of them could know if Michelle was okay.
