Well, Hazel hadn't expected anything, exactly, but even if she had she wasn't sure it would have been Ernie admitting to not knowing how to read music.
"It's okay," she smiled softly. "I'm supposed to teach you, remember?"
Scooting her chair around so she could see the sheet from the same vantage as Ernie, she reached over and brushed her fingers lightly against the notes, sounding them again.
"B, B flat, A, D, and E," she intoned, showing him which keys to press, but feeling suddenly too embarrassed to explain how he'd have to use his lips.
Maybe this would just end in her laughing at him, after all.
