"I see." Severus regarded the girl critically. She appeared to be telling the truth - the damp wretchedness she was exuding seemed to be ample proof of that. But he had to be careful. There had been an increase in students refusing assignments set for them in the Carrows' classes, as well as other acts of rebellion around the castle. The seeds of dissent that had been planted in the fall seemed to be starting to ripen, as it were, and he needed to keep a watchful eye on the efforts of those who didn't support the Carrows, though he doubted Peeves had interrupted anything of that nature here.
Staring hard at the girl for a moment more, he finally decided to put her out of her misery, though likely not in the way she'd hoped. Waving his wand over her, he cast a non-verbal drying charm over her. It wasn't as good as a change of clothes, but it would do.
