Lavender walked to her dorm in a daze. Her feet moved without her putting any conscious effort into it, her brain far too occupied with the events of the night. She had been naive to think there was only so far that the Carrows could go. Tonight, Amycus had pushed them further, and she realised with dread that the sky was the limit as far as torture went.
As distracted as she was, Lavender completely by-passed the Hospital Wing. Her cheek throbbed, but it seemed irrelevant in comparison with the mental anguish she was experiencing. She had been locked in a room and told to use the Cruciatus against another student, and when she refused, the Cruciatus was used on her. That pain wouldn't show on the surface; the bruise was a result of her falling against the sharp corner of a table when she fell head=first into it, her body past her own control and under the effects of the Cruciatus.
Lavender blinked; when did she enter her dormitory? Her eyes focused on Parvati's concerned face, and for the first time since she left the classroom, she felt alert and present. Her eyes welled up with tears, and while a part of her brain was trying to tell her not to upset Parvati, Lavender really needed her best friend at that moment. Her hands raised to her face and covered her eyes as she began to cry, her breathing coming in panicked gasps.
