Susan was under the impression that she was on her way back to the Hufflepuff common room, but this was the first time that she was doing it by herself, so she could only hope she was going the right way. She was returning from the infirmary after having tripped and scraping her hand open trying to break her fall. All was mended now, but she wished that Hannah had stayed with her so that she wouldn't have to find her way alone.
In her arms she carried several of her text books. She couldn't help but wonder why the professors felt the need to assign them books that were this heavy. First years did have considerably less strength than the average adult, after all. The small brunette has reached the top of yet another staircase and had just decided that she wanted to take it, when a boy came running up them. Susan didn't even have a chance to get out of the way before he ran straight into her, knocking all the books out of her grasp.
"Ow!" Luckily for Susan, she had landed on her butt. But, unluckily, she had a very small, non-cushy behind, so it wasn't that it helped much. She looked up at the boy as he tried to apologize. "It's okay..." she said slowly, almost reluctant to say it. It would be the second time that she had fallen today and neither had been her fault. But she couldn't be mean to the boy.
