Technically, Lavender wasn’t working. Being all of 14 years old meant that it was illegal, but assisting her mother was totally allowed. And if her mother thanked her after the show with a few new outfits and some extra pocket money, who was she to complain?
Lavender loved fashion, and being a part of her mother’s team put her squarely in the back tent, helping with hairstyles and makeup and running off to do minor tasks. Right now, her task was finding and helping Madam Malkin. Craning her neck so she could see around, her eyes fell on her target. She skirted across the cluttered area and caught up with Alberta, panting a little.
“Madam Malkin?” She said. “I’m Lavender Brown. Mum had an emergency with one of the models that lied about her hair being her natural colour. When the stylist went to put the gel in, her hair all fell out. Mum’s seen it happen before though so she can fix it, don’t worry, but she asked me to come and find you and help you however I can, and also to apologise for her since she can’t meet you.” Lavender let out a big breath after that mouthful, and then fixed Alberta with her best smile, “I might be young but I’m a good worker. Can I help you?”
