"Yeah, wow covers it pretty well," Michael agreed with a small smile. Trust Lavender to get to the point with one word. He raised his eyes from their hands to lock with Lavender's gaze and suddenly started grinning. There was no way Michael could feel depressed with Lavender being so flustered and eager and...cute. Now that was a word Michael never suspected in a million years he would ever use to describe Lavender.
"Slow down," he grinned. "When I say 'father', we agree that I really only mean 'sperm donor', because the man has never been around all my life and he has absolutely no claim on me. I reckon he doesn't even know I exist." Michael bit back a nasty comment about the man. "As for 'catching', that was me just failing to find a good description. I just..." He hesitated and looked seriously at Lavender. "I just don't think I'd like him or would want to be like him. Ever."
The last word came out with a vehemence that surprised even himself.
