"Oh yeah," Lavender said, realisation dawning on her. "Why did I think you were Muggleborn? Shows how much attention I pay to blood purity."
Nobody would be able to hear them up here, but Lavender still looked around when Michael finished ranting. They were high up in the stands and there was no one around, and even if their voices could carry to the ground, the wind would kill any noise they made. Lavender wasn't afraid to put herself in danger, but she didn't like the idea of anyone else risking their safety. What Michael said had some truth in it. Lavender was a Pureblood, so they were less likely to spill her blood.
"Well of course I'm going to stand up for Muggleborns," Lavender said. "I didn't grow up in a Wizarding town, so I've been surrounded by Muggles my whole life. A lot of my friends at home are Muggles, and one of the kids in my town is a Muggleborn too. They don't seem any different from you and me."
Looking at her books, Lavender groaned, "I don't really want to start, but I know I'd rather not do Muggle Studies. We don't need to be any more wound up than we already are. Let's save that for last and I can pull the piss out of them and their ideals through my homework." Lavender rummaged through the pile and pulled forward her Divination book with a big smile, "Ooh, can I practice Divination with you? We were revising palmistry again in greater detail."
