Ginny had been nervous. She'd actually been more nervous about her first practice than she had been for try outs. With Harry and the twins off the team, they'd had to take what they could get, and Ginny knew she wasn't a bad player. But now that the try outs were over and the real work of playing with a team was starting up, Ginny was realizing that she'd never played with a real team before. Just mucking about with her brothers, when they let her. Usually she had to sneak one of their brooms to fly anyway, when she'd been younger. So she'd flown well enough to get ON the team, but what if she didn't know how to play as part of one, and Angelina was left wishing she'd taken someone else instead?
Ginny wished she was playing Chaser. She liked flying as a Seeker, but it was so hit and miss. One time missing the little buzz of gold as it passed by and she was a failure.
But she'd done her best, and it hadn't been horrible. She was glad she'd gotten on the team, but part of her couldn't help but be brassed, on behalf of her house, that Fred and George and Harry had gotten tossed off in the first place. Not that Malfoy didn't deserve it. Malfoy was BORN deserving it, practically. He was probably a little twat to the witch who delivered him, right off the bat. But still. They might have sunk Gryffindor's entire chance for winning.
Practice had been long and cold, and a bit wet, and when Angelina finally let them go, Ginny flew down, climbing off her broom and rubbing her hands together, then tugging off the gloves she wore, reaching for her wand to cast a warming charm instead and starting to pull off her pads to pack them in the worn bag she'd left on the benches.
She looked up as one of the other girls landed and smiled, seeing Alicia there. Ginny looked up to all three of the older Chasers, but Angelina was really a bit scary, in a brilliant sort of way, since she'd taken up as Captain. With just one practice under her belt, Ginny was a bit happy it wasn't Angelina coming over. "At least it didn't really rain, yeah? I think Angelina would have kept us out here even if it had."
