Alicia was quiet for a long time, considering what Katie had just said. Part of her was both frustrated and rather offended by her friend’s parents’ hands off approach to it all, but she still found that she couldn’t truly blame them. They were good people! She knew that and had known so for years. Finally she shrugged her shoulders and sighed, looking at Katie.
“I don’t know how or if you can ever make them see,” she admitted. “Right now I think they’re trying to survive, and apparently refusing to know is their way of doing it.” Feeling a little ashamed she looked down at her fingers. “People like that makes it easier for me to blend in and go unnoticed,” so that way they were helping out, though indirectly. “You know that all I want is for you to be safe and unharmed, right?” she asked her. “But maybe you should stop trying to convince them and just do instead of waiting for their approval or permission, which... isn’t easy either, I’m sure.”
