Katie lifted her hands up and put them over her face, shutting her eyes tightly and trying to control her anger. It was slowly dissipating, Alicia's calming presence was a huge help, but sometimes she felt like even Alicia couldn't have all of the answers to her problems which was a scary thought.
"I don't think they even consider it a war," she said, through her hands. Even if they did, it was a war for other people to fight, not their daughter. "You know as well as anyone else that they don't care for that blood purity shite, but..." she trailed off. Maybe in different circumstances, her parents would be behaving differently. Maybe not. She looked over at her best friend with a frown. "I don't think anything I ever do could convince them that I'm capable of making my own decisions and doing what's best for me and all of the people I love."
