As much as Daphne was suspicious of Susan's real purpose out here, she knew that there was not much she could do. Susan's superior status as a Prefect was not lost on her, though she had to admit that it hadn't thought much of it until the other girl had explicitly brought it up. This situation was precarious, and Daphne knew that the only real way she could have hoped to come out on top was to have a group backing her up. Namely, something like an Inquisitorial Squad. Now she'd only managed to imply accusations with nothing - and no one - to back her up.
It was stupid and careless. "And I wouldn't dream of accusing a Prefect of anything. I just know as well as anyone that things have been a bit mad around here lately."
