He took the sandwich Lav passed him and unwrapped it, mood instantly improving when he saw the thick slices of moist turkey and all the embellishments. He glanced at her sideways, smiling more fully this time. "Thanks Lav. I really appreciate that y'understand." He reached down and picked up his butterbeer, taking a sip. "It just...I hate that I've not seen any of them in four months. I've barely had a letter since the owl bandin' started."
Realizing he was still sounding like a whiney mope, he took a bite of his sandwich, hoping it would improve his cheer. It was excellent, and actually did make him feel quite a bit better. "Mmm," he couldn't help making a happy noise as he ate. "S'wonderful. Y'make a mean sandwich, Miss Brown."
He looked at her sideways again when she mentioned not bringing many other blokes round. He knew better than to ask if she'd brought Ron around. Everyone in their dorm knew how that relationship had gone. But still, he'd imagined there might've been some others. "Thanks," he murmured. "I didn't think loads, but surely..." he trailed off, not quite certain where he was going with the thought.
