"I didn't realize," Percy said softly, taking a step back which left him pressed against the door to her office. He wasn't sure what it was about the woman, why he wished to be rather more daring and impressive when he was around her, but dodging about regarding something as simple as paperwork hardly seemed a credit to his character.
He stood up a bit straighter, though his tone, he hoped, was conversational and apologetic, even if he was only feeling the latter. Conversation with angry young women was not Percy's forte.
"I can come back later, if you like. I truly don't wish to interrupt."
