“I don’t know,” Alicia admitted honestly, “I didn’t read that far. Kept to the results of your tests. You know, blood count, blood pressure, all the fun stuff.” Even to Alicia the joke about the ‘fun stuff’ rang flat, but she really hadn’t read further. She had solely focused on the numbers to see how Katie’s body was Healing. Katie’s mind... no, she wasn’t going to let someone else’s judgement taint her own impression of Katie. After all, Katie was her friend, she had known her for years, and though she knew that Katie was hiding how she truly felt, someone else wasn’t going to come in and paint a picture of how it really was. Besides, Alicia wasn’t Katie’s Healer, so the only opinion of Katie that mattered was her own.
“Well, they... brought it,” Alicia chuckled as she looked around the room, then smiled as she saw Katie shovelling in food. “My mum’s just been cooking for the week today, figured you might want something different than the regular here.”
For a moment she went quiet, letting Katie eat as she tumbled the words in her mind to broach the subject Katie had brought up earlier. She had sounded bitter, and Alicia knew she had to tread carefully. “Kates...” she started, then cleared her throat. “If they want to start you on a psychotropic potion, would you consider it? Please?” She chewed a little on her lower lip, knowing that she was in a territory that Katie didn’t like, though Alicia had other reasons for asking her, reasons she had a feeling Katie hadn’t been presented with from the Healers. When she was fully trained, she swore right then and there, she would make sure to inform the patients of why they were given the potions and treatments they were, rather than keeping them in the dark.
