Cameron stood by the window and watched as the hyperspace flew by. They had done. They had actually got Atlantis off Earth and was currently taking her back to Pegasus. The week before had been long and taxing. There had been secret meetings in the dark labs of the city as they made final plans to get the city off the surface. The scientists worked on ways to get them under the Air Force radar, while others worked on everything else. They had been careful not to tip off the IOA and when the day came to exacute their plan, everything went off without a hitch. Well, almost.
The solar flare that the drives shot off only worked for so long. They were already off the surface and going toward the atmosphere when a few fighters approached them. Luckily, the 302s were there to ward them off. Soon, they were in space and entering hyperspace with the Daedalus as their escort. They had been worried that the Apollo would try to follow them but they had made sure it couldn't follow them or find any sort of signature.
After a few hours of biting their fingernails, it became obvious that they had gotten away. In front of them was a long three week journey but Cameron knew it would go back fast and soon they would be on a new planet in Pegasus. He was sure the IOA was going to send people to find them but he had faith they would never be found. The IOA would never find them and they would never touch Atlantis again.
Stepping away from the window, Cameron stretched his arms above his head. He had already had a briefing with the small military unit they had brought with them, and everything in the city was safe and secured. Glancing down at his watch, he saw it was almost time to meet Carson, Sam and Cait. All of them had decided to spend the evening together, relaxing, since the last week had been so long.
Cameron started toward the quarters he shared with Sam. Just as he was arriving so was Sam. He gave her a smile before softly kissing her. "Hey, sweetie," he said just as Carson and Cait arrived. He ushered all of them inside and grinned at Carson. "Good job with the flying, doc." Reaching over, he lightly clapped Carson on the shoulder and smiled.
He then went over to the fridge and pulled out some water and juice. He softly laughed when he saw Cait sit by Sam and curl up beside her. What no one else knew was the fact Sam and him were extremely close to Carson and Cait. They had bonded after the IOA had booted the other three off Atlantis. Cameron really liked having Carson and Cait in their lives. "Guess that means we're sharing the couch," he said to Carson.
Cameron sat down and tugged Carson down beside him before looking over at Sam and Cait. "How's the baby and how are things on the Daedalus?" he asked as he slipped an arm behind Carson's head and started to run his fingers through his hair.
