After dinner, they all talked a little bit more, firming up plans for meeting the next evening once they were back at the city. Jack promised to stay in touch through Cait and Charlie and work on getting to the supplies since he had some contacts in the Air Force he could use. He said there were also a few others things he could take care to get them ready.
They then headed back to the hotel in Colorado Springs where they were staying after thanking the O'Neills for dinner. During the drive back, Fred found herself thinking about what they going to be doing - leaving Earth and never coming back. There was a good chance she'd never see her parents again. She knew they'd understand if they knew what was going on, but she also knew she couldn't tell them what they were planning.
There was no way she could just leave without seeing them at least one last time, though.
"I think I'm going to call my parents and see if they want to come up to San Francisco for the weekend," she said softly. "Bring Crewe with them."
Steven looked back at her briefly before returning her eyes to the road. "That sounds like a good idea," he agreed.
Nodding, Fred looked over at Jeannie and reached over to take her hand, squeezing it tightly. She knew this would be a bit easier for her since her family - Rodney - would be going too. Fred wished her parents could come, but there was no way she could ask they could just abandon their lives, even if they had sold their farm the year before.
Before long, they were pulling up at the hotel, and they headed inside. As they walked to their room, Fred looked over at Jeannie, remembering what they had talked about earlier, and then to Steven, giving him a smile.
"Want to come in?" she asked, point to their room door.
Steve looked over before coughing slightly and rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm not sure..."
Fred walked over to Steven and took his hand, tugging him over. "We know you've been wanting to join us," she whispered. "And we want you too."
