Carson squeezed Cait's hand tightly under the table as the others spoke. They were really planning on taking the city and going back to Pegasus, becoming fugitives from their own planet. But he knew that they were right - they couldn't let the IOA take something that wasn't theirs away from the people there. He had seen enough of the devastation that had been wrought on them when Atlantis had disappeared the first time. They couldn't allow that to happen again.
As Jack and Maggie talked about going with them because they didn't want their children to leave them behind, Carson realized that by doing this, he would probably never see his mother or siblings again. He knew his mum would understand if she knew, but still, knowing that there was a chance he'd never be back... He took a deep breath as his throat tightened. He knew Cait wanted to do this, though, and there was no way he'd ever leave her or their child. Plus, he knew that he couldn't sit by and watch the IOA take away something so precious.
When Cameron asked John about flying one of the 302s while he took temporary military leadership of Atlantis, the other man nodded. "That sounds like a good idea," he said, looking over to Carson. "As long as Carson agrees."
Carson looked at his wife, touched at her belief in him, and reached up cover her hand with his. "If all of you are sure you want to let me try again. That was the most spectacular of landings if you recall. I'm lucky we didn't hit the Golden Gate Bridge."
"But you didn't," John reminded him. "And you got us down in one piece. That's all that matters. You can do it again, Doc."
Taking a deep breath, Carson nodded. "All right. I will," he agreed. "Just keep those fighters away from me so I don't have to use the drones."
"You got a deal."
"Teyla and Torren should probably go in the Daedalus," Sam suggested. "You said it was pretty bumpy for him before."
"Yes," Teyla said with a nod as she looked at Evan. Carson could see that she was glad she'd get to stay with him during the journey.
"What about you, Cait?" Sam asked. "I know you probably won't want to be away from Carson. Will you be all right during the trip in Atlantis?"
Carson looked over at his wife. He didn't really want to be apart from her for several weeks, but he'd understand if she wanted to go in the battlecruiser.
