Teyla couldn't breathe. She had been through so much in her life, had lost both her parents and her home. Now, her husband and her son were the most important things in her life. They were her family along with her friends from Atlantis. And she had almost lost them thanks to Michael and his obsession - something she fought with everything she had to stop.
Now, Hammond was telling her that the IOA had decided that they could split them up without any thought to what they were doing to them because... She didn't even know why. And she didn't care what their reasons were because it wasn't right. They wanted to keep a father from his son, a husband from his wife. They wanted to destroy something they had fought so hard to keep together.
When Evan put his arm around her, she leaned against him, reaching up to cup his face with her hand. "I can't lose you," she whispered, her throat tight. "Not after..."
She couldn't finish the sentence. She couldn't even acknowledge General Hammond as he left. This wasn't his fault, of course, and she was grateful that he had told them so the IOA couldn't have ambushed them with their decision later on, but it was still difficult to deal with. She didn't know what they were going to do.
Once Hammond was gone, silence fell over the table for a moment until Cait suddenly announced that they should steal the city. Opening her eyes, Teyla looked over at her in amazement. As did everyone else. She was actually suggesting they take a huge city out from under the noses of the IOA. No one said anything for a moment, though.
Until Jack. "That's my girl," he said with a grin. When everyone turned their gazes to him, he sat forward, his knife in his hand, which he pointed as spoke. "Look...the Ancients made it pretty clear that they considered Pegasus to be the city's home, and Sam is right that the people there need it there. The IOA's been making a lot of bad decisions with this program, but this eclipses all of them. We're the only ones who can fix that."
"You do realize that we're talking about doing something that can get us court-martialed. Well, those of us still in the military," Steve said, sitting back and crossing his arms.
