Fred reached over to Cait and squeezed her arm briefly, telling her congratulations before looking over when Steven spoke to Daniel and John. He was right - the two of them weren't fooling anyone by trying to stay apart from each other. But at least they didn't try to deny it either when they all stated their support for them.
"Honestly, I think people do better at their jobs when they're happy and not having to hide who they are," Fred said after John and Daniel had moved their chairs together and taken hands. "And if people are honest about who they are, it's better for how they work with their colleagues."
Sam nodded in agreement as she took a soda from Maggie. "Very well said, Fred."
"Thank you," she said with a grin before looking up at Jeannie. She leaned up and gave her girlfriend a kiss.
"Well, we know some people don't have any problem with being exactly who they are," Jack said. "Hey, Steven. Turn the steak before it chars."
Fred glanced at him and saw that he had been staring in her and Jeannie's direction before Jack nudged him. Blinking, he looked down at the grill and turned the steak over before glancing back over toward Fred. When he saw her looking at him, he coughed and averted his eyes elsewhere.
Biting her bottom lip, Fred looked over at Jeannie for a moment before leaning over to whisper in her ear. "I think we really need to do something about him," she told her with an amused laugh.
