"Rodney always thinks the worst even when all you have is a sniffle," Carson said with a laugh as he continued to rub his hand over her stomach, hardly believing that their child was growing inside her. "I'm glad he was there, though."
He couldn't believe that he hadn't noticed that something was going on, but then again, things had been so busy recently, and both of them hadn't had much chance to see each other. At least now that they had gotten the medical lab and infirmary arranged, they would have more time together. And he had a feeling that he was going to want to spend a lot of time with her now.
When she pulled out the envelope and got out the picture, he felt a wide smile spread across his face as he looked at it. "That's our child?" he asked in awe, using his little finger to trace the baby's image. "Oh, love..." He looked at her. "The baby is. And you're wonderful too."
Nudging her face up, he kissed her again. They were going to be parents, and he couldn't wait. He then leaned down and kissed her stomach.
"This is your daddy, little one. I can't wait to meet you," he said softly.
