Yelena stared at the semi corporeal creature at the foot of her bed. Ever since she had arrived on the ship, she'd been seeing what she though was Fanny, her Akita. That was impossible though, wasn't it? How could her dog have ended up in space? Then again, she was here wasn't she? Shaking her head, she spoke to the shadow.
"Look, I do not know what this is all about. You feel like Fanny and you look like her, at least the part that I can see but this is space. Can dogs travel in space?" She supposed they could since someone else had mentioned looking for their dog when she'd posted on the ship's network. She hadn't been with Fanny just before she woke up here though so how did she get here? Or was Yelena simply losing her mind. It wouldn't be the first time she'd wondered that.
Tentatively, she reached out toward the Fanny-like thing and touched it. It was solid mostly but there were also parts that were just outlines in the air. "Fanny, if this is really you, I would be very happy," she said. "It would be nice to have you here with me since you've been everywhere I've been for the last few years. I don't know how to make that happen because I don't do space or magic. You will have to help me out here. Can you stay? Are you actually here?"
Just like that, what had been a blob finished turning into a real dog and as if to convince Yelena that she ewas real, Fanny barked. "Oh my god, it's you," Yelena cried and reached out to hug her friend. "I am so glad to see you, Fanny. Having you here makes it noe quite as weird." she sniffed and wiped her eyes. "Do not tell anyone that I cried, understand? I don't like crying and I would rather no one knew I cried because of a dog." Fanny tilted her head at Yelena as if to say "I'm just a dog?" Yelena laughed. "You know what I mean. You're the best dog that anyone ever had. I guess we should go and find you something to eat and a leash and....dog things. I'm sure they have those here. You can meet Violet, she's nice, you will like her." Yelena got off the bed, followed by Fanny.
Reaching down to scratch behind her ears, Yelena said. "Welcome home, Fanny. I am glad you're here."
